Steinberg's Nuendo 14 comes with a free 'A Day at the Office' Game!

Well, Steinberg just made something that even the biggest gaming & game audio companies could not – a game that's literally about exploring the Steinberg office, with their products & people (almost feels like real references) spread across various rooms and areas in the map.

This is part of the Nuendo 14 demo project for Game Audio Connect 3, that recently got a new update, and it's clear that Steinberg wants users to really see its value by working on an actual game.

The project comes with a pre-built game that works as is on Windows and MacOS, the complete Wwise project file that was used for its audio implementation, and a Nuendo 14 project file with properly structured tracks, markers & regions – all ready to be used in sync. There is also a detailed guide as PDF to get started (link is available below).

I absolutely love the fact that the game is full of easter eggs, smart branding and a whole vibe of Steinberg's tagline – 'Creative first'. As you walk around the map, you'll find posters showcasing Spectralayers, Dorico, Wavelab, Cubasis etc and witness developers coding, product teams ideating and a few folks chilling on sofa and watching music videos. The game is more than a feature-presentation – it's a portal to witness team's creativity.

While Game Audio Connect is a minimal feature with limited help in game audio workflow, it's still a good starting point. And the idea to make a game to showcase such integration isn't new either (wink, wink) but Steinberg clearly has done it first, and really well. For some reason this has not been marketed so far, maybe coz they want this to be organically picked up, so here I am as a fan helping them out 😁 Here's a preview gameplay video when I first explored the project.

It just goes to show the passion and fun these folks are having! Have been a Nuendo fan for almost a decade now and this just makes me so much more proud to be a Steinberg user. You can download and play the game here.
